Rob Mehl
I guess my music could be described as Island-Style Americana music.
I spent most of my youth moving back and forth from North County San Diego to Waikiki and back again, so it's safe to say that beaches and warm water have influenced my music.
So have the writings Mark Twain, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein, John D. MacDonald, the Bible, T.E. Lawrence, William Butler Yeats, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Francis Schaeffer.
So have musicians like Gabby Pahinui, Kui Lee, Jerry Santos, John Williams, Martin Denny, Paul Simon, Michael Franks and James Taylor.
I play Koa instruments and, having spent a good deal of my life in Waikiki, I do tend to "talk story" between songs ... sometimes even between verses!
I think I"m pretty approachable ... if you ever make it to a show come up and say "hi"! Better yet, go to the Contact Page and find out how you can book me for a house concert.
Aloha, Rob
